I am planning on putting down sulfur potash and wanted to know if there is a chance of burning if I put too much down...

I assume that this is a cation just like Magnesium and Calcium and so there is little chance of burning unlike nitrogen. However, I have been wrong before.

YESS it will burn follow directions carefully although i have been experimenting with muriate of potash & do not know any details but it will burn makes plants look like all moisture has been sucked out of them & have not been able to find a way to reverse it be careful

Sulfate of Potash is much more forgiving than Muriate but heed the steady hand either way. Keep the rates down. Keep prills off leaves. Keep rates light.

At this time of year, I'm converting to a true clear fluid form of potash that is injected into the sprinkler system. There is just too much foliage to work around now.

I'm going to use Potassium Thiosulfate 0-0-25 this year. This is the lowest salt liquid potassium made.

Three years ago Giants Stadium got a new Jacobsen sprayer for free as part of a national marketting campaign. I was asked to help calibrate & formulate a liquid fertilizer of equal N&K. The on board computer wouldn't let me deliver the desired water per spray on the fields. So I used Tersenderlo-Kerley's Triazone Urea 30-0-0, this 0-0-25 Potash, & about 25% water to create a straight undilutable 11-0-11 that we sprayed straight up with no dilution. The potash held up in suspension & remianed a clear liquid capable of low volume application.

And no plant injury at all.

Tremor and all, thanks for the input.

The sulfate of potash I used was a powder of 0.2-0-5. I used probably 3 oz. in 2 gallons within a 2 ft radius of the stump.

In addition, I went ahead and foliar sprayed with potassium silicate (Dyna-Gro's Pro Tekt). This was at 4X the reccommended foliar concentration.

So far, absolutely no fert damage and the brown is going away! I will be posting pics in my diary later today.

I might add that any liquid or granular application of potash must be followed up with irrigation to get the salts, sulphides, etc off the foliage & into the soil unless extremely low rates are employed.

Brooks...I dunno about putting granular potash on leaves. I'd either get a foliar or water it in the ground..you burn those leaves up at this stage and that ain't good.
