Hi everyone,
I've got my soil test results and I'm trying to figure out the best way to calculate amendments. I've found the excel file estimator and have entered my test results in there, but I'm afraid I don't know how to use it in a way that will help me figure out how much of what to add. Is there a tutorial somewhere? Or is there another resource I should be looking at?

This is so that anyone with a clue (not me) can instantly reference your soil test result without really having to look for it:

Other than that, you are on the right track by asking rather than 'winging it', lol---good luck! eric g

On the upper left-hand side, make you sure you have your patch size in square feet entered in the blue area. Also make sure you have your current soil values entered in the "Current PPM" column.
Scroll down the to the bottom of the spreadsheet where it says "Qty" and "Amendment." Under Qty, enter the quantity in pounds of an amendment you want to add.
Under "Amendment" select the box with the down arrow, where you will have the opportunity to select from a wide variety of delightful amendments, such as Fish Meal. Make your selection and the spreadsheet will automatically calculate, in the area to the right, the amount of each nutrient (N,P,K, etc.)
At this point, the spreadsheet will also show you the Parts Per Million gained and your Ending PPM with your selected amount of amendment, from cell 6C to 18D. Note that some amendments will add nutrients in two or more categories. You can adjust the quantity of amendment down in cell 30A+ to achieve the ending PPM you're looking for.
I hope this helps and isn't overly confusing, post more questions here! Good luck and have a great season!
