I read that silica helps with heat and other stress.

Supposedly silicate helps with the strength of vines and stems, possibly pumpkin walls.
No real verifiable data on it though.

It does.

But sand is silica. It is not an element seen as low in supply, except perhaps in a pure organic soil as seen in drained swamps.

Sand isnt exactly soluble. I think ash, volcanic ash, and diatomateous earth might have more soluble silica than sand but I dont know the exact numbers. I havent used liquid silica but I believe silica does help. Its probably an under utilized mineral.

Plant needs for silicon is very low. Low silicon can be a problem but only is very specific cases. Like with high rainfall areas with high aluminum content and low pH soils

Can be a problem with sugar cane production, as it is a grass ( which takes up a lot of silicon) and is grown in the problem conditions, high rainfall, low pH and high aluminum soils

Soils contain from 9-90% of the elements in soils. Silicon is one of earths highest constituent element. Although low solubility, more than high enough to provide the very tiny amounts needed.

Just checked through 6 books piled on my desk ( from recent soil course at university)

The ingredient list only says soluble potash 4%. Jim
