I hope this is helpful to someone... guess which of those has more ammonical nitrogen? Guess which has 3.5% ammonical nitrogen... and which has ONLY ammonical nitrogen (with no nitrate or urea nitrogen.) Speaking of guesses... I guess I am maybe the only person who has been caught off guard by this. I was using the 10-52-10 and I was thinking the numbers were the only difference. I was not on the lookout for the acidifying effect of that much ammonium and the lack of nitrate. Also there is no zinc or molybdenum in the 10-52-10. Chemical fertilizers--dont be like me and just read the front side of the box. To get a better idea of what your giving your plants... read the ingredients... not just the big numbers on the front.

If you can afford to spend a little more for (possibly) better results you can buy things like kelp or fish or alfalfa. One of the advertisers on here has a balanced fertizer with feathermeal and other goodies. (I understand that reaching for the nearest chemical fertilizer may reflect I am both lazy and cheap.) I am not trying to mislead anyone. Just looking to help with a small segment of the learning curve.

And don’t forget, you can ask how to get great results from the people who aren’t, or very sparingly using blue water...works great on flowers at the right time though.

I have never thought about the different types of nitrogen, although, I can guess that the 10 52 10 has more ammonical nitrogen. While I sort of agree with you, that the EBGGJ (electric blue go-to juice) can be good for the plants, I believe that it is not a complete fertilization, and the plant also needs to have some seaweed or fish. The EBGGJ could be extremely helpful, but also could be not as good, because it releases whatever nutrients it has really quickly while the natural fertilizer provides more slow release food. My opinion is that EBGGJ should be used in moderation, as part of a complete fertilizer pattern. Although, moderately large pumpkins can be grown on just EBGGJ, such as my pumpkins for the past 2 years, I don't believe they ever reach their full potential.

I may buy a 40 lb bag of feather meal. I agree...

According to Edwards' diary, he used water soluble nutes and micro nutes at every watering. Did not do too badly except for one little problem at end.

So what blue fert brand are you referring to in this thread? Petes, Peters or Miracle-gro?
