I know that Liquid seaweed kelp and fish help thicken the pumpkin, but is it true that they do this by providing micronutrients to the plant. If so, is it ok for me to use A fertilizer for vegetables that says it already had added micronutrients, as i cannot find any of the other high potassium stuff nearby (and i am to young to buy over internet!)

One of the best places I have found for liquid Kelp or seaweed is North American Kelp at: http://www.noamkelp.com/ You can get 5 gallons for $65.00 and that includes shipping.

Len, Could you explain a little about what benefits pumpkins receive from use of Kelp Meal/sea weed as apposed to a general use fertilizer. If it is explained somewhere I dont remember seeing it. May be someone could point me in the right direction. Thanks Bill. lv107@yahoo.com

Bill, for the benefits of Kelp, log onto www.noamkelp.com and for each of their Kelp products they tell you what they think the product will do for you.

This is my first serious year growing. Would it be a mistake to throw fish parts in my patch? Would it be too stinky to be worth it? How about harvested seaweed from fresh water lakes? (millfoil etc.)

fish parts: bury them so they don't get dug up by pets and pests. I've used carp for as long as i've been gardening. as for seaweed, i put down some milfoil last year as a mulch, and had my best year so far. i would also like to hear from others that have tried freshwater milfoil on their gardens.
