I'm a second year grower who killed both plants last year due to over fertilizing. I had a soil test done last fall that indicated I need potassium, I didn't add all that I needed. Now my plant shows signs of potassium deficiency. I have RAW Potassium, how much and how often do I use? I'm watering 60 gallons/day.

I was a little low in phosphorous this year...I added 4 teaspoons per 55 gallons of whatever mix I was using...every 5 days...so prolly around there if the dosages are around the same(don't have the package in front of me..)...i think I like the raw individual Nutes ...could really dial that plant in if you could afford the tissue testing every couple of weeks...I think SoCAL is using raw this year...maybe he could weigh in...not an expert here...good luck Wolfe

The directions say 1/16-1/8 tsp per 2 gallon of water in reservoir for irrigation. With the way it's worded, I wasn't sure if once a week was enough or if I should be doing it daily. Seems like very little fertilizer for a lot of water, but what do I know, I killed mine last year because of too much fertilizer. I'm watering 3 times a day, at 20 gallons each, I've been putting 1 tsp into a 2 gallon watering can and watering with it while my soaker hoses are on. Done that twice in the last couple weeks

What's the square footage of the plant?

I never thought about it until you asked, it's probably only 190 sq ft. This plant really didn't put out many secondaries. So now I'm thinking I'm watering too much.

Maybe it's not the issue but I do know that plant could probably get by on less water. It could probably survive reasonably well on six gallons a day maybe that would be less than ideal but sixty seems like more than it could possibly need.

Way too much water..an inch a week on a 200sq ft plant is prolly more like 20 gallons a week(I didn't do the math)...but around there...let it dry a bit and see if the symtoms slow at all...

I actually had my biggest daily gains this year when my patch looked on the dry side so I only water a little instead of a lot like I normally do I vote let it dry out some and give it a few days ... also my plants were about 900 sq ft at that time

Ok, so I was a little off on the size of my plant. I actually measured it today, not just go from memory, it is actually about 390 sq ft. I'm know I've still been putting too much water on so I'll let it dry out some and figure out how much to water.

Try once a day, 20 gallons. Just a guess because I don't know your soil type or weather.... you might be putting the right amount on but the pumpkin could suck that amount up every day and there might not be any left for the plant. It would be nice to see its working but on the other hand I wouldn't recommend going any higher than double the recommended or calculated application rate.

Any pics? Referring to the potassium not the water... I don't mean the pumpkin would suck up twenty gallons of water it might use that much potassium though. I'm interested to know how it goes...

I'll post pics in the morning. I figured out I need 34 gal/day, with the cooler weather and my clay soil, 20 gal is probably closer to what I actually need. Still trying to figure out how often to apply potassium

Cool just saw those. I think wood ashes is good source FYI. I know it's a strange idea but if you want to apply more to one corner of the plant there might be less risk of damaging the whole plant or causing a major imbalance or fruit abort. You can also do a pretty good job of foliar feeding with a watering can its not fancy but the plant doesn't care how you do it. You will lose style points though for being your own sprinkler... But only if someone else is watching.
