New grower and his soil seems to be severely deficient in some nutrient. I gave him some Urea Mate. Any guesses as this is the first time I have seen this and am stumped. He has heavy clay soil that has a good organic content. It has had compost added

            | Andy H | Brooklyn Corner, Nova Scotia | I had one that looked identical and all I can offer is this. Right up until July 23 I had a healthy looking fruit which benefitted from regular feedings three times a week, fish, kelp, mg, CT etc. I was away for the better part of three weeks and during that time the plants only received inconsistent waterings. A second fruit that was round when I left was shaped like an acorn when I got back, co-incidence maybe. | 8/22/2017 12:47:15 PM |

            | megakin(Team Illiana) | west central IN/East central IL | Not enough water to move the nutrients all the way to the blossom end for proper fruit formation. | 8/22/2017 4:27:10 PM |

            | frostbite | I. Falls, Minn | I have one that is large on the blossom end and small on the stem end. Let me know if you find out. | 8/22/2017 4:42:48 PM |

            | Engel's Great Pumpkins and Carvings | Menomonie, WI ([email protected]) | I think it is excessive nitrogen..Turns out fresh manure was being applied to the plant | 8/28/2017 7:47:53 AM |

            | Little Ketchup | Grittyville, WA | The fresh manure might harm the roots or affect nutrient balance? Looks like a root issue to me or the plant just isn't big enough to supply the pumpkins full growth. There can be a lot of bugs and other stuff that isn't great for roots in fresh manure. | 8/29/2017 1:52:24 AM |
