Yes, but use something soft like a rigid foam pad with drainage holes or if you use something hard like cement board (will get hot in hot temps) use boards underneath to try to keep the cement board off the drip tape. Make sure to use mill fabric and sand on top of that under the pumpkin, good luck.

I don't run tape under pumpkins, cut it short and recap it. the piece on the other side is then cut and attached to the tape next to it with a T and an elbow, creating a dry spot under the pumpkin

Get tee's and 90 degree fittings. Once your pumpkins are set, work the tape around the pumpkins to cover all the area except where the pumpkin will grow.

I got mill fabric from Dan Hajdas and this is his e-mail:dthajdas@roadrunner.com. He sells the mill fabric in 5' x 5-1/2' pieces for $15 each.
