A friend who is a hair dresser has offered me hair sweeps for my garden. I'm looking for advise, is it beneficial? She seems to think it will help to keep critters away, kinda marking the territory with scent.??? thanks Doug

I don't know about deer, but it does work for the little critters. I cut my own hair ( what there is of it) as well as both my sons hair. I always place it around my gardens and sometimes leave a extra sprinkle "if you know what I mean". And it does work for rabbits, dogs & cats. p.s., I can't stop my 6 year-old from marking his territory behind the pine trees...LOL .......Paul

It may work temporarally until the scent goes away. As an element of compost it has some merit. It is not a really reliable critter chaser for long if at all.
Any six year old may pee where he wishes....any place but in his pants. They are invisable at six so anywhere is fair game. :)

Reminds me of what my grandfather said about his place in the Ozarks in Mo. " I just want a place that is so far out I can pee off my backporch without worrying about neighbors" I'm still dreaming of such a place....his was beautiful.

For 15 years we have been using beauty shop sweepings to keep raccoons out of our sweetcorn patch. I just walk down the rows and scatter it. As long as I do my job, we have losses only on the edges of the field. dave

Thanks for your responses. Will hair affect the ph of the soil? If I till it into the patch do you think it will help to airiate the soil? I am a little hesitant to do this given the length of time it will take to break down.

--REN that s the reason for the fish--molasses and symbex --it will increase the microb and bio action 1000 fold in one day 10.000 in 48 hrs to help break down--release tied up --n-p-k -ca-mag-and loosen & aerate the soil ---
