Going to buy soaker hose, I think 200 feet should be enough, anybody else use a lot more?

Definitely look into the driptape like porkchop said. I tried the soaker hose my first year because it was easy and after about 70 feet they lose pressure. Half the patch got over watered and the other half received no water.

Cooper, I think Pork Chop and So. Cal. are right, soaker hose has its limitations and not effective in those lengths. Say you aren't here in Auburn, California are you? Crane

Cooper it all depends on the texture of soil. Coarse sandy soil the spacing closer together. A clay soil the spacing is wider spacing. I have a sandy loam soil that drains real well so spacing is going to be 12 to 14". I have also 8" between emitters vs 12" between emitters.

Soaker hose is the wrong thing to use. Use DRIP Tape. Most growers use about 500' per plant. I have in stock 6", 8" and 12" emitter spacing

www.columbusirrigation.com Dan is very smart and very down to earth, and will be happy to put you on the right track. To do this successfully, there is more to it than buying some tape and laying it on the ground. How much water each planting area is getting is dependent on the gpm of your water source, the tape diameter, the emitter spacing, the distance between tapes, & your type of soil. If you're going to spend the money, you might as well do it right. Dan will figure it out for you! Something to consider: I have a shut-off valve where each tape connects to the main line. This allows me to turn on tapes as the plant grows. And if I get a hole from a hoe, I can turn that tape off until I can get it fixed. How did I do Dan??
