This year I am mixing Natures Care and Jobes Organics fertilizers and kelp meal that will be blended into the soil of the trench. This gives a little mild fertilizer and 13 beneficial bacteria species right in the root zone. I will also use some Pumpkin Pro at each leaf node. Then I plan to mix compost and soil from elsewhere on our acreage to cover the vines. I'm hoping the compost will leach some "goodies" down to the roots with rain and watering.

I'm experimenting this year with running a layer of potting mix where the main will go.....I have high hopes this will help with the average 52" of rain we get a year by providing a 'dries quick' layer under the main.
