How important is soil drenching this time of the season? How do other growers drench if you don't have a drip irrigation system?

Doesn't that imply that you have to leave the misters on for an extended period of time. I have a heavy leaf cover so I am not even sure if it will get to the soil. I am trying to thin it out some. Do you put your chemicals in some sort of barrel then pump thru the misters?

The leaves are designed to deliver the water exactly where it is needed and wanted. The leaves will cup upwards to catch the water and direct it down like a spillway down the stem to the root zone.
yes, I have a fertilizer injector that I use to apply stuff to the entire patch and a pump sprayer when I am just foliar feeding something.

I don't use a nozzle on the hose. So, I just point it to spot on the leaves and let the water funnle down the stem like NSB describes. If the soil down about 1ft is getting wet, I'm happy.

All I have been doing is foliar for the chemicals. I just installed the misters and was hoping that I could fill my rain barrel with chemicals and water and run it through my misters. I know that will not get the bottom side of the leaves. Your plant looks great and neat. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I was not able to keep up with my plants and they are growing all over the place, in addition into my second plant. Half the time I don't know if something is a tert or something coming off of a tert. I did notice today that the soil is not drying under the leaf cover. In fact some of it has a green hue to it like it has been wet or damp for too long. I want to run the misters because of the heat, but want the soil to dry some.
