I know we have been getting a lot of rain, but when it stops how much water (in gallons) does a plant need when it is beginning to vine. Thanks. Ray Leonzi

hay rayl. while i was growing mine it rained very heavy for an hour a day (almost every day) as well i had my sprinklers 3 times a day on for a half hour each every day. and i had the greatest success. but note i had a raized bed with excellent drainage and in the end all the water done me in with powder mildew and vine rot ( note as well befor desiese set in i used not chemicals so may have been different if i had used fungiecides). hope this helps instead of confuss.

Ray L - your plants need about 1 to 1 1/2 inches of water per week. this can vary greatly depending on soil type, temperature, humidity etc... you want to water an area that is at least twice as big as your plant. probably more. I try to water my entire patch the whole season. to get 1 inch of water on 1,000 sq ft of patch takes 623 gallons. to get 1 1/2 inch of water on 1,000 sq ft of patch takes 935 gallons. these plants need a lot of water.
