Help! I'm trying to get a watering/misting system going from scratch, using a pond for source. Anyone have a resource or experience doing this? My first challenge is trying to get the pumping going into a dripworks system. I am considering buying a small jet pump to get the water up to the patch, issue is location of pump is probably 3 - 400 feet from nearest power source.

Anyway, post thoughts here or e-mail me.

Much obliged,

Scott

www.farmtek.com has two or three catalog pages devoted to meters, valves and pumps. Anyone helping you to size a pump properly will need to know your basic facts: distance source to patch, elevation (lift) from pond to patch and volume of water at what pressure you desire. Once the pump and delivery system is designed you will need to know how and if you can get the proper electricity to the pump.

Scott,
If you can trench the ground for the electrical contractor, the finished hookup shouldn't be too outrageous. Is there a straight shot from the house (or nearest electricity source) to the desired pump location? A rented Ditch-Witch can cut the trench in many cases. But check a local certified electrical contrator first & confirm the local codes. That's a long run & I wouldn't recommend it as a "DIY" project.

Make sure you put a filter system on it. Ponds have small amounts of algee and debris that could clog the misters....Tom

Dripworks.com in Willits, CA has all kinds of filters.
