1 Lb for 100 gal

.5 lb 50 gal

.25lb 25 gal

.12lb 12.5 gal

0.0096 lb 1 gal

0.0096 X 16 = .15

About half an ounce per gallon.

Ok I could be wrong but something doesn't seem right about Nics math. Seems like the 16 changed first part of the equation from a measurement of weight to a measurement of volume. I googled how many grams are in an ounce and there is 28 1/3 grams in an ounce:
http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=grams+in+an+ounces&aq=f&aqi=h1g-m1&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=ef6e971561b14b8b
At half an ounce, 14 grams, that would mean a rate more than three times as much as Dan's math showed. Could someone confirm? I'm confused, lol. Don't want Scottie to accidently go overboard.

Tremor

Ctpumpkin@optonline.net

I get 4.48 grams/gal.

Find a friendly post office or borrow a Cub Scout pinewood derby car scale. Then turn it into an easy to recall volumetric measure.

A good Ohaus digital scale is $45. I have two. One for the boys and one for pumpkins.

Sorry, I bet it is wrong I think I messed up at the 0.0096 X 16 part.

I get just about the same as unkadan and tremor. This is an easy one for google conversions. Just type this into the google search box:

4 lbs per 400 gallons in g per gallon

Also basically restating Tremor: you'd then want to calculate Calcium 25's bulk density (or make a guess if you don't have a scale sensitive to grams) so you don't have to weigh out 4.5 g of stuff all the time.

If you don't have a sensitive scale just measure out a cup and weigh it. Then type this (substituting your weight for my guess of 7 oz) in to the google search box:

(4.5 g / (6 oz per cup)) per gallon in teaspoons per gallon

and there it is: teaspoons per gallon.

Why didn't we just use the metric system when the founders of our nation in the 1700's came over it is a lot easier and everything is divisible by ten. Lol

Perhaps the colonialists were disillusioned by their earlier adoption of the Baumé scale and decided that another measurement system from France would be equally useful. (Full disclosure: I hate the Baumé scale.)

It could also be because metric wasn't adopted anywhere until 1791.

Back on point, 4 pounds per 400 gallons is 0.16 ounce/gallon, or 1.2 grams/liter (folks who complain about US customary units, then mix unit systems for their answer should be condemned to use the Baumé scale). If you have a standard backpack sprayer, you’re looking at roughly 14 grams for 12 liters or 0.5 ounces for 3 gallons.
