My soil guy does recommend it. But I had to buy a big box to end up using just a tiny bit, maybe an ounce for 500 square feet. Makes you wonder if Borax is such a great thing to use for your wash and then run into the septic tank, doesn't it?

A few of us NY guys have used Borax before from the store. Don't recall the amount per 1000' right now, but it was small. Had to mix it with sand or dry peat moss to get even distribution in the patch when spreading it by hand. It did bring the Boron levels up.

Mix 50/50 sugar and 20 mule team borax, is a great ant killer. Sprinkle, (don't mound) some where you find some ant activity. They take the mix back to the nest and good night. You do have to reapply after a moisture event. Works in my house and in the yard. kevin
