I am wondering how a person goes about getting a mature plant foilar sprayed. We are suppose to get all the leaves possible and get the bottoms (undersides) of the leaves.

How is this accomplished without trampling all over the plant's roots and soil. I tried attaching a mister to a 12 foot stick and pumping the soulutions through it. But its clumbsy to use and I hit myself in the head twice! I can spary with a nozzel from the edges but not get the underside of the leaves ver well. Any help, pictures or ideas would be great.

Thanks

i use the sthl mist blower.it rolls the leaves up so that the bottoms get covered. you don't have to get into the plants at all. this blower is probably the best investment any grower can make. it saves hours of time and cuts way down on amounts of sprays used.

I agree. We got a Echo mist blower last fall. Instead of a 2 hour job, we can spray the entire patch in less than 15 min. The fert mixture is blown out in such a fine spray, that it covers everything that you point it at. When it's full of gas & fert mixture it is too heavy for my wife to carry on her shoulders for any length of time, so we hooked it up to the back rack of the 4-wheeler. I drive around the edge of the patch & she walks behind spraying the plants as we go along. Works great & the plant's leaves are looking as good as they ever have. We now don't dread foliar feeding the plants like we use to.

YEP---on the blower---and a good quailty mico refined foliar feed product so it enters the plant very easily---

I have a four gallon back pack no pump sprayer which works very well but I can't get under all of the leaves. Would this Stihl or Echo blower weigh about the same? Mine weighs, I am guessing about 50lbs full. I don't have a four wheeler so I am its' transportation.

hi kathy--i used a pump and a back pk for over 20 years --spray with the sun in front of you - it alumnates the amount of spray that really there at least by 5 times ----these sprayers are doing a better job that you think--

A hose end sprayer works well if you dont have a blower, depending on how strong your mixture is (we use compost tea) if you turn the hose end sprayer upside down and crack the seal on the jar it will dup the ferts out A LOT faster, be careful and practice at first with a diluted mixture so you dont burn your plants.

I own a tree spraying company so I stand about 50 feet back and let 'er go. I can get the tops and bottoms of my three plants (about 2000 sq ft) in about a minute. ;)

If you are limited to using a hand held compression sprayer:

Try placing walking boards between every third or fourth secondary vine on each side of the plant. From there you should be able to access most if not all of the undersides of the leaves slightly compacting only the area where the boards are placed.
