I use a 1550 gal, covered with black plastic. It is "a good size"....lol

Your question really depends on how many plants you have and where your water source is. If you have to buy truck loads at a time, you should have a tank big enough to hold a truck load. If you are on a well or municipal water, I recomend at least 50 gal/plant/day capasity.
