Im looking for an outlet timer... Not a 24 volt timer that turns valves, but an outlet one that will turn power on and off to a 1hp pump I have pluged into it. I have found some smaller digital timers that will do 8 on and 8 off a day, but probably wont handle a 12.8 amp load of a 1hp pump. Any ideas??

Either timer will work. Use your choice of timers to control a relay. Timer kicks on, pulls in the relay contacts, which in turn turns the pump on. No different than a standard starter circuit on any vehicle out there. Think of the relay as being a light switch that turns on electrically instead of by moving the on/off switch by hand.
There are a ton of relays with both 24VDC and 120VAC coil voltages. Most of them can handle voltages up to 240VAC so even if your pump is 240, you'll be fine. Just be sure the contact rating of the relay exceeds the max current draw of your pump.
Hope that helps, Brian

Guess I shoud have mentioned....the only load on the timer itself will be the relay coil, not the pump. Current draw would be on the order of mA from either timer as opposed to having to run the pump current through the timer.
Get yourself a cheap timer with a low current rating and spend 2-3 bucks on a relay available at any Radio Shack and put the money you saved into the patch!

look for a T-101 time clock if you want something to run full voltage, they are pretty cheap, you may have to buy extra On-off delios- deal-e-ooos
