Hi all. I'm growing 3-4 plants this year and was thinking of trying the Agro K program for the first time. I was just curious how many of you who have used the program with good results stuck to the daily feeding schedule?

The reason I ask is because as much as I like being out in the garden, I just don't think I can find the time to feed on a daily basis throughout the entire season.

I'd love to hear about your experiences with Agro K and any comments on the program and the feeding schedule itself would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I guess I should have asked....how important is it to feed daily? Can one spread the feedings out to every other day by doubling the amounts used?

I realize the whole point of the program is slow and steady but if I can get away with doing it every other day, it'll make it more doable given my schedule. This is a lot of money for me to drop on pumpkins so I want to be sure I don't waste it by changing the schedule.

I’ve used Agro-k the last 2 years. I try really hard to stick to the spray schedule, but sometimes that's not possible. When I miss a day, I do double up the next day and all seems well when doing that. I don’t think I would try skipping every other day for the whole season and keep double spraying. Not sure that would have the same effect. It does take quite a commitment, but aren't we trying to grow world records here? No such thing as a free pass in this pumpkin world we live in:-)

Myself, I work second shift, so it is hard to do a daily spraying program. Home too late, if I get up early to spray every day I won't get enough sleep. Would 8:30 in the morning be too late to spray? thanks KathyT

HI Brian--- the answer is yes and no--the feeding program is suggested to feed every day for a lot of reasons--to keep plant sugars up--to keep the plant fed--the bigggest problem growers have is plant and pumpkin shut down due to not enough food then leads to diease---QUESTION--??--for you Brian-- how do you feel went you dont eat breckfast and then have late lunch--dont feel to good right-?? pumpkins same thing-- but as Joe said yep he misses and yep i miss here and there the AGRO-K fill in the gaps-- scroll down on the page fert--watering the 2006 results are there--- Agro-k is not the total answer--but is help grow some of the worlds biggest for the last 7 years--craig

HI KATHYT -- I work the 11-7 most of the time i feed at 10 pm before i go to work--Just suggestion - >> 11-12 pm isnt to late to feed if you could--craig

Kathy, I work 2nd shift too, and I get up with the birds to feed, can't sleep knowing I have to spray. On my nights off, I spray in the evening. laura K

I use Agro-K with occasional skips. The kelp and fish applications are seldom missed. I'm absolutely sure the skips are a daily drag away from success. I can not always be in the patch for health reasons.

On the other hand I just read about a "Wonder Blend" of spray 'em once product and grow your best ever. I smiled with a onery desire to laugh out loud.

I know agro K works great and is widely used. I want to present another option to growers who don't have the time or can't afford it. Dan Carlson taught me a lot about keeping things simple with great success. I followed his simple recipe of going organic in my soil. Basic soil test, ammend deficiencies, aged manure, lots of leaves, grass clippings, organic matter, and gypsom. That's it. Let it sit all winter. I Just compliment the soil with a organic 3-1-4, and kelp meal in the spring.

It helps of course to build your soil up over a few years of course. During the season, I didn't use any ferts at all except a little organic fertilizer once. I had great sucess with this simple keep it stupid silly attitude from Dan. My first year doing this, I would have broken the southern california record except for a blossom end split, the second year broke the san diego county record even with lots of gopher attacks and damage. Anyway, Dan has grown many over 1000 including his 1432 this ways as well. So there are other options.

Thank you very much everyone for all your informative replies. I've been working on my soil for 3 years now and think it's in decent shape. In addition to the soil, I'm hoping Agro K can help push my PB to 1000 pounds but even the best soil and fertilization program can't make up for my biggest handicap, myself :-)

Craig, I'll be sending you an email to get the order process started. Guess I better get me a headlamp for those late night foliar feedings!

Brian: Craig will tell you himself that Agro-K is a gap-filler. He will also tell you that Duster is on the right track. Simple is good with a daily regimen of Agro-K thrown in.
