The Rei$$ has slowed to a crawl. LB's going to kick by butt cuz his macari is still going.....Been cool and rainy here but it is supposed to get back in to the 80's and 60's/high50 at night. Ive heard of foliar spraying with Agro-K KDL.......would this hurt? I have 2 weeks left before I'm supposed to get to it but this year seems to be fading fast.....guess it cant really hurt can it?

Well you can ride it out or risk splitting it. We have pumpkins stop growing because of cool temps. Then indian Summer comes along and BOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMM, SPLIT, CRACK. Game over. It depends on what you want to risk. Sometimes second place is better than no place at all. Then again maybe that is why I never get 1st.

blanket them up at night will hold the daytime heat in longer less chance of splits, and will, and remove when heat resumes

Ditto the temperature flux problems. Splitting is much more likely with large fluctuations.

Was it still growing BEFORE the temps dropped?

Yes is was growing, still appears to be going slow. Last nite picked up 1" Nightly temps dipping to mid 40's but supposed to pickup back to lower 80's for a few days and night temps at 50's. Tried to keep Agro-k ing but it has rained everynight for the past 3 days right at 5:00PM The Reiss has slowed down the most......Langevin is still putting on more inches by day so I think the genetics is playing in here as I have read several folks slowed down at times on this one......One thing that does worry me is a mark on the rib from the blossom end up about 6" thats not a split but a line appears.... not to be cantaloping but a concern. I have thumped it seems thick......time will tell. Tonight Ill hit it with the 10X. And VCP on the kin

Master, I cut it off like you told me too, your right, is was very little......... What do you want me to do with your Holland pumkin from Jareds? ......we really should bring it in out of the sun.

And yes the Reiss has basically stopped growing, or only going 1 inch a day total OTT.Now its at 68, 69, 101........beat that LB!...... The temps have picked back up with two days above 85 and 58's at night, but we are in for lots of cool weather the next two weeks. All other pumpkins, well except Masters Holland, continue to grow.....Mr Rei$$ wont be 60 days old till the 27th of Sep. Im still going to replant this one next year Im sure it would do alot better without the Hailed upon vines, they were quite beat up and I want to really take some good pics once they leaves freeze to see how the vines repaired themselves after I buried the destruction. Very interested in the forensics on the damage.

Measured again Friday night, inches finally picked up on ole Mr Rei$$, got 4 inches out of it, interestingly enough I sprayed the 2-12-12 the night before, last time I picked up a few inches was that same foliar too, perhaps I have a potassium difficiency.......the temps have been warm the past few days finally but now we are going into a real cool down like most of the nation......and just when it was starting to recover....oh well
