Looking ahead to next year I've been doing some planning. Thinking of planting 2 plants back to back in the Christmas tree shape. I was thinking about stretching a soaker hose the entire length of where the main vines should go and training the vines to follow it allowing me to better water the main vine. Has anyone ever done this and is it a feasable way to go?

I use soaker hoses every year but employ somewhat of a unique (ya and time consuming) method of laying them down.

I wait until the plant is for sure a keeper (main vine at 8 feet and secondaries started. Then my wife and I gingerly lay our 150' of soaker hose by hand in "S" patterns back and forth over the main and 10' out on each side to water the secondaries as they grow. I also like to keep some slack in the hoses so that the vines can be lifted and placed under the hose as I like to bury all secondaries and that is hard when then grow over drip lines.

Anyways, that is my method.
