Our vines are finally starting to grow. They are in the garden for a month. I hope it isn't too late for them to start growing. They are about a foot long now. Why did it take so long for them to start growing? What should I use now? I am a little behind everyone it seems.

Limited experience here but from what info I have gathered on this site and other places you probably need mostly nitrogen now. My understanding is thats what makes the vines go!

Good reading in this-that-the-other and no, I do not have a hoop house but we did make a little hot house that one of them was in and that one seems farther behind. I guess that small at this point may be the norm? Does N make the vines grow? I seem to have enough N now. The leaves are a good color. Is there any other nutrients that may help in the growth or maybe shoud I wait and see if they will take off now because they seem to finally be moving now.

Nitrogen will promote vegatative growth. If the plants look healthy excessive nitrogen will hinder other plant development. maybe a light dose of miracle grow and take a watch and see approach...poor root development etc maybe just bad cool nights might be the problem.
