I am applying triple 10 to my (poor clay) soil, and tilling it in. I was wanting an estimate on how many sq feet 50 lbs of it should cover. I don't want to over do it.. or not get enough... thanks in advance for the help.

Justin, surprised the bag doesn't give recommendation on it. I generally use 20 lbs on my 30'x30' plot. remeber that you can always add more later also. Steve

In Joel Holland's 2001 Video, he recommends using....

16-16-16 25#/1000sq.ft.
0-45-0 20#/1000sq.ft.
15-0-0 8#Cal. Nitrate in 20' circle of planting site.
14-14-14 8# Osmocote (Slow Release) in 20' circle.

Hope this helps.....

Ok Justin let's see if I got this right 50 lbs of 10-10-10 equals 25 lbs of 20-20-20....a little higher then the 16-16-16 that covers 1000 sq ft. so if 1000 sq ft is 4/5 of the area....where are the college kids when ya need them....chuck

Looking at Joels recommendations, I'd think the salt levels would start building up in the soil. Need to keep this factor in mind when adding granular since it's high in salt content. If your salt levels are getting up around 1.6 or more, best to stay with liquid fertilizers due to low salt. If salt gets to high,it can years to get it down to a good level.Steve

Fortunately, pumpkins are quite "salt tolerant"! The "salts" reading on my soil at the end of October was
over 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My April reading was .5!!!! Go figure!
