Anyone use a fertilizer tree spike near the main root of an AG?

I doubt that anyone serious uses these. They're usually formulated for a specific species ie 4-1-2 ratio for evergreens, 1-2-1 ratio for bearing & flowering trees. But most of these place a large amount of lower grade (cheap & salty) fertilizer in a "hot spot" that would probably (depending on type) burn roots in the local area if insertion.
Don't get me wrong. There are some very high quality planting tablets & spikes available to professionals. I just don't think anyone who is able & willing to seek them out wouldn't have already figured out a more precise way of delivering nutrients more evenly throughout the entire patch.

I use them on my evergreens. Better off with slow release organics. Fish, fish and seaweed work great. Humate and ask about Agro-K. There is lots of information on this site. You do not want to blow up your fruit or burn it from the inside out. There are no shortcuts yet. Most is in the genetics and proper care and lots of luck.
