I will be new to the giants until this spring. My question is, is Neptunes Harvest a must, or will any foliar fertilizer do? I have a high pH soil of 7.8 and am thinking that a seaweed fertilizer may add too much salt to my already "sweet" soil. Am I wrong in thinking this? Also, are all of the giants grown with fish/seaweed fertilizers? Thanks Craig "herbie"

If you're concerned about salt and pH, take a look at the AlgaCore soluble kelp powder at PumpkinSupply.com. Because of a patented processing technique, it has both a lower pH and lower sodium content than other kelp products.

Neptunes Harvest is VERY expensive. I have bought and used it alot in the past and it seems to work well, nothing to compare it to though. I believe it has been said that in most of the better quality products the salt content is minimal and has very little effect. I trust it, but after asking other growers about their sources, I have found much better buys. I'll be using it at least this spring, as I have a good amount left. AleX Noel.

When and how much do you spray your plants? I was trying ever other day switching back and forth from fish to seaweed in the morning with pretty good results.

I might go with the Alga Core.

I tried spraying every few days last year. In the early spring every day, near the end it was every week or two. AleX Noel.
