Las vegas NV.

I am currently watering my plants via my sprinklers using a drip line right at the root of the plant lets the water soak in pretty good ... before I would water using my regular sprinklers until I heard suggestions to water from below the canopy... does anyone have any thoughts on this? here in Las vegas it gets up over 110 on a day to day. so I only water at night .. if I water during the day the water evaporates very fast.. at night it can soak in before evaporates... also looking for suggestions on that .. so far my plants are doing great averaging 4 to 5 inches in length on the main vine every 24 hours and the leaves are viberant green and very healthy looking.. if it aint broke dont fix it? or is there something more I could do?

110F in the summer here. we overhead mist for 85% of our water. 45 seconds every 5 min from 9Am to 7pm. our mains do a good foot a day during the early part of the season.

All soils are improved with the use, of manures, composts and with remineralization. Build the humus content, of your soil. The soil will improve, in every way, for you. Anything else you may need, to do, will require regional consideration and advisement.

the reason i dont like to water overhead much is because in rhode island area we get many humid days and nights
a combination of high humidity and h2o on the leaves
( especially at night ) will cause not only powdery mildew to advance but can also advance some diseases

if you have enough water pressure then soaker hoses day or night would be a good solution

I use a systemic fungicide regularly... I fertilize around 9 pm.... no trouble with PM or molds.

It would be hard to keep the leaves dry in the Netherlands where I live. We usually get rain 5-7 days a week. If we get a bit of dry weather I water the leaves with liquid fertilizer. My pumpkins are at day 55 and have almost no signs of aging. I have not had any problems with PM or molds. We have had about 10 rain free days since pollination on July 11.
