Ontario, Canada.

Brooks I have not applied any fert for the past 27 days or so on the healthy plants...I am trying to apply only when absolutly nessecary

I use Calcimax for chelated calcium.
Guaranteed Minimum Analysis %

Calcium (Ca)............................ 8.0% Ca (m.m.)

Boron (B)................................ 0.5% B (m.m)

Role of Calcium in the Plant

Important to the structure and permeability of cell membranes

Helps prevent cell injury and necrosis

Is a determining factor in fruit quality

Delays ripening of fruit; extends storage life, by suppressing ethylene production

Advantages of CalciMax

Rapid penetrating action with good absorption of calcium by plant

Liquid formulation is easy to mix and easy to use

Contains no nitrogen, sulphate or chlorides

Relatively low dosages of CalciMax have proved to be as effective as higher doses of inorganic salts (i.e. Calcium Chloride)

Compatible with most pesticides

I'm growing totally organic this year, haven't even used fish and sea weed emulsion but once or twice. Seems to be working even better than past years by far. Just do good soil prep in the fall and let the plant go! I did add some 3-1-4 organic granular made from plant by-products.

Brooks, My father is growing the 781/5 Landry and the 839 Hunt this year, in the spring he applied 7-7-7 every second week after day 10 hes been applying 20-20-20 at 1/2 the rate called for on the bottle. Hes now hitting day 28 with 2 fruits well over 150 lbs each!! ( new record for himself) this weekend hes switching over to an 15-15-30 finisher at 1/2 bottle rate and will use this every second weekend till weight off. Id LOVE to see my old man get a nice 300-400 pounder Ive NEVER seen him so "involved" with his pumpkins before hes just loveing it.

This year I reduced all fertilization by fifty percent more or less. Have the nicest looking plants I ever had. Got late pollination so the weight is not exciting yet.

Manure, kelp, minerals and cover crop in the fall. Buckwheat cover in the spring. Fish, kelp and molasses in the soil and foliar Agro-K Aerobic Tea. Everything but the tea is reduced by half. I use Mycorrhizae which calls for reduced feeding and water. I use no synthetic ferts. I may still be treating the patch too good.
