My older leaves are beginning to show curled brown edges. Eventually they die off. I read a previous post by Drsoccer that everyone seemed to agree is sunburn. Then I followed a lead by Tremor to a site that shows pics of leaf disorders. After reading Molybdenum deficiency, and why it happens... i did all that! One was too much phosphate. I made that mistake. But, it also says that it can be corrected by a foliar of ammonium molybdate or molydbate sulfate. But, these are specialty ferts that aren't avail at local garden shop. Does anyone know where I can get some? Or, maybe a product that has this? Thanks. Greg

My thoughts on this are what is your Current P.H. According to my soil book Molybdenum defiency can be brought on by a low ph. By Correcting the P.H. you may correct the problem.
Molybdenum Defiencies are very rare. Manures and Compost normally have plenty of the micro nutrients in them for most gardens.

Shannon: Well, here's a beginner who you just caught red-faced. I didn't have a soil test this year. Last year, Ph was 7.1 and high salts. But, according to the results, the soil was very fertile. I planted a cover crop and put alot of ammonium nitrate, Triple Phosphorus, mushroom compost, cow manure. osmocote and peat moss in the patch about 2 ft deep. I overdid it! really bad. I'll get a test done this week. In the meantime, although the first 4weeks the plant was really growin, now it's slowed down. Any advise? Thanks

It's been my experience that curled brown edges are usually sunburn.

I would recommend a leaf tissue nutrient test before applying anything else.
