After seeing the diary posting from our very successful grower/friend in Sweden, I thought a little reading and research was necessary. This is just one of the articles that I found.

My books covering this subject indicate that anything that once lived (plant life), any manure elements and live animal parts may safely be composted if done properly.

Bottom line is controlled composting held at 130 to 150 degrees, for ten to fifteen days or longer, is needed, to assure aerobic compost wherein success with any additive may be assured.

When additives that might be improperly handled are mentioned they often suggest that these items "not be" composted. I feel this is the writers being safe lest someone call up the "Sweet Sue" should problems arise as the result, of suggesting the use, of certain difficult materials in the patch.
