Hello! 1st time giant pumpkin growing next year as I have been challenged and have just been perusing this site preparing.... I think I have space for 3 pumpkins(~30x40 spot) and am wanting to know when the best time to start buying some good seeds and I am assuming I should be able to get them off this site? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the madness. If I were you I would not even think of buying an expensive must have seed until you get your soil right , your technique right, probably hook up with a mentor, join your closest club etc. The auctions start late December and if you go to the links page, you will find several clubs that you can buy with no bidding. Also some people will offer good genetics for a bubble. Remember, a great seed does not guarantee a big pumpkin but hard work and proper soil is a bigger factor. You should post questions on the new growers board, as there are some knowledgeable people like to help newbies that are willing to listen.

Thanks spudder! I am thoroughly enjoying the research and all the helpful people/posts! I am quickly realizing all that can go wrong! Yeah I am not too concerned with getting the best of the best seeds as my challenge was only to break 200lbs. I haven’t really looked into local clubs here in KY yet, but will certainly see what I can find! Thanks again and I’ll be on the lookout for some auctions in December.
