Nova Scotia

Thinking about trying to grow a marrow.Curious if anyone may have this seed with no plans for it. I have some decent FP seed to trade and a selection of AG's. If you leave a contact I will drop you a line.

yes grow marrows i am trying to promote them in the maritimes,, kind of sucks when you go to a weigh off and your the only one with them,,, i dont have the 206 wursten but i have selfed ofspring to it,,, what do you have for AGs to trade cueball420@hotmail.com

I personally don't have any 206.5s anymore. Not even for myself. There are two problems with the seed. One is that a certain percentage don't grow marrows and another is, they grow so fast they tend to explode. It has grown 208, 156.6, 140, 135.5, 130 etc, but only the 156.6 made it to the scales in one piece.

We spoke last year about it and the one I had didn't germinate but I am still interested in giving it a shot if I can get one and germinate it. What is it producing in the ones that are not marrows?

it is possible to grow a good sized marrow in nova scotia i would think the cooler part of the province the better luck you well have for example last season i lived on the coast and with out any effort at all i grew a 66lb not saying that was any monster but i didnt have good soil and never put in any effort,, ware in nova scotia are you from johnny cabot?

johnny cabot, do you have a greenhouse? I would say the colder climate would not bother your marrow if it was in a greenhouse johnny cabot. ;)

Scottie Bellingham I have a haunch a marrow would grow quite well in our climate and it would be grown au natural. No plastic here this season. Got any 206's lost in those mater and pepper seeds? ;)

DONKIN since you are not growing AG's anymore lets not let the MM bed go to weed. I will fix you up with WR producing FP seeds and you can add a new WR FP to your resume ;)

The few that grew non-marrows were so-called "flat green-striped gourds". Which makes sense as I grew them that year too. I had several good ones set on the 206.5 plant, but all aborted or blew up, so eventually only an open-pollinated one was left and that one became the 206.5

There were only a few seeds in it and all were given to marrow growers and clubs, mostly to the GVGO and the EGVGA. Not sure how many are still out there.

Marrows do not like heat, and I wouldn't grow them in a greenhouse in N.S.

Thanks Brad, I think the climate here on Cape Breton may be suitable for marrows but won't know until I give it a shot and will not be in a greenhouse although I have seen that Mark Baggs grew his 208 DMG under plastic?
