Years back, I bought a hollowed out gourd bird house that was at least 18 inches long. Does anyone know what type of gourd this is or variety of birdhouse gourd, and does anybody have some seeds?
Thanks

Can you dry a pear gourd I was under the impression that they don't dry. If it is 18" long.It may have been a swan gourd they are common dried. If you want it to fit on your head. Then it would be a marten gourd. I have those if you want them.

Linus, no idea, I googled both and neither look like what I had. Either way I just want to make some big birdhouses.
Croley, please email me or let me know your email.
Darren, thanks. It actually looks like an upright swan gourd, so maybe that was it.

Luke, I would advise Swan gourds to make big bird houses, you just have to manipulate the direction of the neck to the house when the gourds are young & pliable!!! Yes you can do this, I have (in the past) tied two gourds together when young, and you kaint get em apart w/out breaking them!!! If you want a big bird house....grow a swan gourd, and keep the neck straight!!! Peace, Wayne
