The Spot That Caused the DMG
It can be difficult to get images while in the moment of cutting the pumpkin, but this shows the only soft spot on the entire pumpkin and also the thickness in the area of the issue. While there is more soft tissue around the hole, this is in part due to the extended post-harvest showing of the pumpkin and lack of any treatment after this time. With any problem you never know how bad it actually is and seeing this now, there was plenty of pumpkin meat left before the cavity was compromised
