Today is day 27 for my 2465 Sperry fruit. I started measuring it on day 25 because I love the process of savoring the daily steps which make up the long season of growing these things. Overnight this pumpkin had its first 50 pound gain, which is something I always look forward to. I have a feeling in my gut that this is going to be a real good one. I recently have been re-watching my all-time favorite television series, Ted Lasso. I love the many life lessons which are highlighted in the show, which quite truthfully are a reflection of what I also love about growing giant pumpkins. Gradarius Firmus Victoria is the motto of AFC Richmond, the team Ted Lasso coaches. Literally it means, slow and steady toward victory. Throughout the show Ted reminds us of the importance of enjoying the daily steps and work which lead us down our chosen path. So why not spend waaaayyyy too much time measuring your pumpkins? I love the hope it builds along the journey. And we all know: It Is The Hope That Kills You. But it certainly makes the ride more fun!
