And we have our first matured materkin! These things are just comical. Type of eggplant that is more commonly called “pumpkin on a stick”, they can be plucked and given as “pumpkin party favors” or cut a whole branch, remove the thorny leaves, and spice up your fall floral bouquets. The skin and fruit are rather firm, not at all like a ripe tomato, so they travel and store well. Might be my favorite plants in the garden this year :)
