Keeping a close eye on the late winter starts. This is one of the more difficult times I find with DWC hydroponics. It takes time for the root system to develop. I am keeping the water level about 1/2 inch below the tip of the longest root. This root and the bottom of the net pots are still getting enough splash to cause a bit of purpling on the bottom of the cot leaves. As the roots grow, I can keep lowering the water level until the net pots are dry. This will eliminate the overwatering- lack of oxygen symptoms. My little rock wool cubes must still be holding too much moisture. About a day after net pots are dry will have root tip touchdown in solution then it is off to the races. I am adjusting only for the top two seedlings. The remaining slower ones probably wont survive. Next weekend..the top two will be in their own buckets with a separate chiller for each. I still think I can have a competitive entry with the January 1st start. This week is just to get them established and deep rooted. Next week, the foliage growth will determine a lot.
