We are double digging the whole patch every year from now on as our rotavator only goes half the depth we would like.
I'm seeing a lot of pits dug for starting plants in the hoop house. I'm personally not a big fan off digging a pit for two reasons. First, if you have a clay base you can end up with the perfect mini pond. And secondly, if we think that a small plant needs that extra root space why don't we treat the whole patch the same way.
