The first pumpkin, set at 7' on the 1217.5 Zappa, measured 25" in cir yesterday that's 11 days dap I am happy with that.
Yesterday I covered a female at the 12' mark thinking it would open tomorrow but was surprised to see it open, its a large 5 lobe and I used a male 1546 Shenoha to pollenate it with, this will be the keeper if it takes.
This would actually be the first pumpkin I have grown that wasn't a open pollination, a 900 pounder this year would make me happy but have dreams of a 1200.
I stated above that the 1744.5 fulk had a node with double parts, it also has tendrils that have the shape of a celery stalk, and have found nodes with 3 roots instead of 2, the more roots the better I guess, but is this very common ?
I think the zappa cross is going to have me in a good mood all day !
