I grew a special bioengineered "smart" rye that responds to pumpkin biomarkers. It automatically breaks down into the soil all by itself when these biomarkers are present.

2009 Wallace over 650 sq feet of plant. Now 6 side vine pollinations are in place. 1(7-15) 3(7-17)-2(7-19)
One is on a secondary trained as the new main as the original main aborted on its own with 3 pumpkins on the main. The largest split 7-13 and the other aborted. The biggest is the 7-15 pollination its on a secondary that is about 11-12 feet from the stump. 3 are on the 1st 3 secondaries after the stump which are very thick.

2009 that split on 7-13. Early shape was probably an indicator of a problem.

Day 11 selfed 2009, did 4 in cc overnight for 30in cc. This pumpkin is on an actual side vine, not one trained as the new main. The origin of the vine is at about 11 feet from the stump.
You can see that this 2009 did not want to throw symmetric pumpkins, this one is not as bad as the earlier one that split.

100 Podraza fp. Grew the 100 last year off the 81 wolf. Started that seed on 7-5-13 when I cut out half my 1872 due to rot. Pollinated on 8-22 and it got to 100#. This one was started june 15th but with the cold and rain and being tucked in the corner its just starting to run. I am thinking this will be for decorations as opposed to competition but if I can get a pollination by august 15th I may keep only 2 on the plant.

Interesting only 1 pollination on this plant all others are shriveling up. Last year I did not pollinate till aug. 22 so I should be able to break 100.
we wont talk about the giants

front of garage, those cypress trees are about 10-11 feet high (over 40 years old), Ive been knocking snow off them so they don't break. They finally filled back out this season after the October 2006 storm that broke a lot of limbs.
