Don't think I have posted to my Diary yet. Been a crazy summer so far! Grew 4 plants this year my own 1124.5 Hodge plus the 1724.5 Steil, 1338 Martin and the 1756 Howell/Jolivette.
Plants started well and have done very well. Its just been hot and humid. Foliar disease has been rough. Will be investing in a much better foliar disease program for 2017!
Anyway the following are the fruit I have still growing. I picked the 1124.5 fruit for the Indiana State Fair and took second place at 890 pounds, she taped 844. Pollinated with the 1724.5 Steil.
My youngest and still my smallest fruit. Today she tapes 865 and she is growing about 28 per day. We are finally out of the heat and humidity so growth should be maintained for the next several weeks on an incredible plant!
Next is my 1756 Howell/Jolivette fruit. Taping near 960 and doing 12 pounds a day. She has some THICK shoulders and is just starting to get some cantalouping.
Here is the 1724.5 Steil fruit.
Tapes 385" total for an estimate of 1230 pounds. Still growing 22 pounds per day.
My best total inches was 365" last season, already have that by 20" with 7 weeks to go! I think my goal of 400" is coming into sight!
