Friday, June 12 View Page
1374 Engel. Main at 4'. The plant has a lack of side vines. I don't get it, same soil, same program. On the up side the first female is round and yellow.

Sunday, June 21 View Page
Started this plant Feb 4th. Ripe tomato by the summer solstice. MMMMM. The females on the 823 Rahe look underdeveloped. I've got one at 12'. I hope it takes, about 10 days out. I guess the plant isn't ready to set fruit yet, growing like crazy. No extra fertz on this one. The 1374 Engel has a nice round good looking female at 8'. About 4 days out. Might wait for the next one and let the plant get bigger. Side vines aren't very robust but I am getting some.

Friday, August 7 View Page
1374 Engel. day 40. est. 368 lbs. I'm guessing she'll come in around 600 to 650 at this pace.

Saturday, August 8 View Page
823 Rahe, day 40, est. 547 lbs. Growth curve would suggest a finishing weight somewhere in the 800s. A bit disappointed, I spared no expense with the amendments in the spring and added Azos, compost tea and Neptunes harvest to the regiment. The plant looks great though, maybe my second half numbers will be better.

A few days ago I found this area in the main vine about 2 ' away from the pumpkin on the 823 Rahe. I had been putting fungicide on it for a little while but then the brush poked through and I found foam. So I cut a hole to let it drain. I then covered it with the hydrator drawer from my fridge. Then I put 4" flexible aluminum exhaust vent right in front of the hole.

Since it's close to kin I didn't have a lot of room to work with so I extended the flex hose to the back of the pumpkin and connected it to a cheapy bathroom exhaust fan, it's propped up off the ground with wood. I then covered the fan with the lid off of my grill to keep the fan dry.

Thursday, August 27 View Page
1374 Engel. day 60. up about 40lbs in the last 10 days.

Friday, August 28 View Page
823 Rahe, day 60. up about 64 lbs. in the last 10 days. I'll take it. With my vine rot issue i'm lucky it's still growing.

Monday, September 7 View Page
1374 Engel Day 71. up 36 lbs in the last 10 days.

Monday, September 7 View Page
823 Rahe day 70. no recordable growth in the last 10 days. I guess my rotting vine issue has stopped this one. Just hoping to hold it together now. This pumpkin had a lot of forward growth (towards the vine) I was not diligent in moving the pumpkin backward as it grew. I have concluded the stress on the vine caused it to split letting in nasties.
